Benjamin Thompson plays in Brisbane noise-pop trio The Rational Academy. He loves Pavement and Sonic Youth, but also has a soft spot for Elton John. He denies liking Ian Moss.

If we're honest, Ben is one of our favourite singers, songwriters and guitarists. Basically, he's a freak. If he were sporty (and he's the first to admit he's not), he'd be the kid everyone at school hated but secretly wanted to be. As it was, he was just the kid everyone hated.

Anyway, Ben's songs break hearts, ignite sparks and reach places inside of you that you never knew existed. And we love him for that.

He appears on Vol.1 of the Quiet Time split EP series and there are plans afoot to release a solo album on Book Club Records in the near future.
